Schniewindt
The Power of Electrifying Ideas

195 YEARS OF WESTPHALIAN INDUSTRIAL HISTORY

Schniewindt was founded in 1829 by Carl Schniewindt in Altena, South Westphalia, and a few years later the company moved to its current headquarters in Neuenrade, a few kilometres to the south.

Since its foundation, Schniewindt has been an independent, performance-orientated family business, now in its sixth generation of management.

While the first century was characterised by products that had to do with the processing of wire and other metal products in the broadest sense, our success story in the field of electrical resistance technology began with the invention of the "Schniewindt grid" in 1902.

Today, the company is one of the technologically leading suppliers of power resistors, electrical heating technology and energy measurement technology.

By utilising the most innovative process technologies, we are constantly developing our products to meet the needs of our customers.

In addition to the site in Neuenrade, the company has had a further production site in Zheijiang, P.R. China since 2005 in order to better serve the local Chinese market.

Numerous partnerships with trading partners worldwide in turn allow us to maintain close ties with our customers, the centre of all our efforts.

With around 200 employees worldwide, we are constantly working with our customers and partners to find customised solutions based on ohmic resistors.

We understand quality not only as the user-friendliness and precision of our products, but also as our modest contribution to the most sensitive use of scarce resources and thus ultimately to the protection of our environment by developing products for the longest possible service life - 40 to 50 years is not uncommon here.

Schniewindt heating technology

The Schniewindt heating technology includes the development, manufacture and sale of heaters for heating gases, liquids and solids. These devices also reflect our expertise in explosion and firedamp hazard areas. With complete systems including electronic controls and pumps, we offer process-optimised and energy-efficient solutions from a single source.

Electrical resistance technology

In the electrical resistance technology we develop and produce customised high-power and high-voltage resistors for various applications such as filter and damping circuits in HVDC and FACTS systems, where we can look back on a large number of successful projects worldwide.

Energy transmission technology

For the energy transmission technology we offer solutions for voltage and/or current measurement based on proven sensor technology. On customer request, the systems are also available with optical digital data transmission for use in future-orientated, digitally automated substations.
